Greetings, Earthlings!

Charlotte is healthy as a horse. Liz did an awesome job during the delivery and she’s doing great.

7 lbs 3 oz and 20″ long.

Liz had been having contractions since Friday afternoon but never really progressed past 6 minute intervals. We walked the mall Friday night, Saturday morning and afternoon for a total of over 6 hours of walking (after the 20th lap, you realize just how small the Tippecanoe mall is). We called our doctor around 5 pm yesterday and he suggested we go ahead and get to the hospital to jump-start the process.

We got to the hospital around 6:30. By 8, Liz had her epidural, the doctor had broken her water and she was dilated to 4 cm. Family came and got to spend a few minutes with us but by about 10 the room was quiet and we were resting.

The epidural started to wear off around 11. The nurse came and said that the epidural had indeed NOT worn off, but that Liz was dilated to 9 cm and we would start pushing in an hour. At midnight we started pushing, pushed through 9 contractions and out popped a very healthy and beautiful little girl. Liz’s epidural was excellent! She felt no contractions and very minimal pain during the delivery.

We finally got to sleep about 4:30 and didn’t get woken up by a hungry baby until 7.

Thanks to Beth Hill for taking care of the dogs while we’ve been in the hospital. I got to sneak home for a few minutes and they seemed more spoiled than usual! And thanks to Titus who brought me Jimmy Johns last night
